Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Tumblr claims to hate Taylor Swift and her lyrics so much, but there are several sets of lyrics of hers that is always reblogged on tumblr, by people who hate her. But because it does not say where the quote came from, they reblog it.
Examples:
“You don’t feel pretty, you just feel used” -Lucky One
“Wish you could go back and tell yourself what you know now” -Fifteen
“You’re string of lights is still bright to me” -Innocent
“I love you to the moon and back” -Ronan
and “Words, how little they mean, a little too late” Sad Beautiful Tragic.
Just thought you should know. I know that there are a couple lyrics that people can dislike, but seriously, you don’t hate all of them if you have reblogged any of these, because they ARE hers.
Two Opinions:
It really irritates me when people are all fussed about downloading/streaming music or movies being “illegal”. Nobody cares! Yeah, I’m sure Rihanna could really use your 99 pence because it’s not like she’s rich or anything.
Spotify is so, so, SO much better than iTunes! You can actually share music with friends by sending it to them, you have access to millions of songs for just £10 a month if you want, four of the top five record labels are signed with them, I could go on.
Honesty, and this site is the worst about it, an opinion is not an attack or a guilt trip unless it is directed at someone. And even then, only you can determine how a statement will effect you and it is no one else’s responsibility to change or cater to your personal views.
I have an incredible lack of regard, and a very low opinion of people who submit things that are provocative and hateful anonymously, to this blog, or to individual users in their ask boxes.
The idea that they use their free time in a completely non-constructive and sometimes masochistic way (i.e. a person who trolls/invites negative attention) is pathetic, when you actually think about it. Yes, there have been anonymous things submitted that have been constructive, or to users who have been kind, and helpful- I do not judge those type of anons, because they are not attacking, and thus, there is no point in accusing someone of cowardice just because they wish to be anonymous.
However-I truly believe that people who anonymously post hateful things, try to troll, or who are mean for no reason, or anything of the sort are exponentially cowardly and I find that level of low self esteem, fear, and cowardice to be hilariously pathetic. I don’t understand why so many people are so afraid of being judged by people ON THE INTERNET that they don’t even care about/don’t like/don’t know….OR how people can randomly attack others and sleep at night, knowing that they didn’t even give a source or anything for the poor person who gets harassed to go off of.
I know I’m going to get some shit for this because I spent five minutes on it when I really didn’t need to, but I am attempting to point out a correlation that I think others may see/attempting to perhaps inform people of exactly how sad and inappropriate their piss poor behavior is.
Hope this isn’t too much foul language.
No, I don’t always agree with your unpopular opinions. Sometimes I plain as shit hate what some people have to say. And I find it so fucking stupid how worked up people get about stuff and how thick-headed they can be. But I still love this blog.
Because it has absolutely no reservations about what is “right” or “wrong”
or how there might not be a “right” or “wrong.”
All this blog does is just let people vent and be pissed off
About ANYTHING. No matter how immoral or totally fucked up it could be. It has no judgement. Sure, some people judge other people’s posts and decide they want to comment on them and react to them. But whatever, that’s their deal. That’s YOUR fight to fight. Your sermon to preach.
And I appreciate every single last one of these posts, no matter how small minded or indisputably fucked up they are.
I appreciate that there is a place on the internet where people really can just be totally fucking crazy about things they believe whole-heartedly.
And I know this makes me sound like some sort of sap at the beginning of the Styx river (where all the souls hang out that couldn’t pick a side and therefore have to spend the rest of eternity fighting for what they may or may not believe in, Dante’s Inferno). But it’s how I feel. So I guess this isn’t really an unpopular opinion so much as it’s just a super appreciation for the fact that this blog exists.
I believe this blog equals us. It makes everyone equally as stubborn as everyone else. Because if you’re willing to go to the trouble of putting your opinion on here and making a case for it, then don’t try to tell me that you’re not at least a little biased towards your own mind.
And that’s totally okay. It really is.
It’s okay to have faith in something and believe in it, whatever it is, even if it’s twisted.
Putting it someplace like this is a healthy way of expressing it. If you firmly believe that it is 100% okay to masturbate to Cows, then by all fucking means, tell this blog about it, and get that shit off your chest. Don’t let it rumble inside you until one day you find yourself wrestling the bull. (Pun fully intended.)
The admin of this blog have taken it upon themselves to let everyone speak completely freely (minus nudity or pornography, which is understandable because there are some legal issues there) and I just think that’s the most open-minded thing anyone on tumblr has ever done. I think that’s the most open-minded thing anyone could EVER do.
So thankyou, The-Unpopular-Opinions.tumblr.com
Thankyou so fucking much <3
To me this perpetual thigh gap trend is so fucking ugly and I can’t wait for it be over. I’m so tired of seeing these stupid ass photos on my dash of rail thin torsos and mile wide thigh gaps with obsessive “omg so beautiful and perff<3” reblogs (time to unfollow a bunch of you). If you have one naturally, that’s your body. It depends on your HIP PLACEMENT and measurements. You don’t really get it from losing a shit load of weight from those thinspo blogs you follow. (In some cases you may never know you get one until you do see one) You can be skinny and still have your thighs rub together. Glamorizing it is stupid. FuckYeahThighGap? Lol more like Fuck Your Thigh Gap.
The argument of the person who originally posted that it’s okay to slut shame was so incredibly flawed and even so, many people reblogged it and agreed with them. So I’m here to give a super brief explanation as to why slut shaming is not okay.
1) Consensual sex is not a bad thing. So why do people feel compelled to shame women for participating in an activity that gives them pleasure? Stop making women feel bad for something that isn’t even wrong.
2) Consensual sex with multiple people is not a bad thing. The only people who are affected by sex are the ones involved. It’s none of your business.
3) It’s sexist, misogynistic and dehumanising. The OP directed the post at women. Basically, it’s okay for guys to have sex with loads of people, but women can’t? And don’t tell me the word “slut” is gender neutral, because it isn’t. Women get called “sluts” for wearing revealing clothes, being suggestive etc. and even for just being women. If you saw a guy shirtless on the street in summer, or if a guy was wearing his trousers so low you could see his underwear, you wouldn’t call him a slut, would you? And the term “slut” seems to reduce women from the status of a human being to a dirty, skanky “slut” who doesn’t deserve the basic level of human respect. All because she decided she wanted to have *GASP* sex.
These are just a few reasons as to why slut shaming isn’t okay. I’d be delighted if someone could list the reasons as to why it’s good to slut shame, but there aren’t any. Judging a woman based on her sexual history by degrading her doesn’t make you a wonderful human being, it makes you a judgemental, misogynistic, sexist piece of shit.
Some people believe in a higher power (Whatever that may be; God, Buddha) and some people don’t. But to think that just because someone believes in a higher power makes them stupid, is ridiculous. I am a Christian, just a straight Christian. I support Gay Marriage, I want to become a neuroscientist when I finish college, and I think Darwin’s Theoryof Natural Selection is factual and somewhat legitimate. Some people with twisted stereotypical views, would think “What? A non-homophobic, science oriented, Christian. What is this sorcery?” Just because I am a Christian, does not make my opinion on a subject any less real. The opinion I have on homosexuality is not determined by my religious views. But I’ve learned to accept that the world has and will be like this. And I’m not putting this as anonymous because that would make my words cowardly.
Taylor Swift is not that great. She’s pretty, only with make-up. She’s skinny and flat as a 2x4. Apparently she sings both pop and country. You can’t fucking claim two genres of music awards like that. We all should have listened to Kanye. I’m so sick of her on my dash and how she’s literally everywhere in music. I really don’t like her at all. Her music isn’t even good.
OH YAH, and for all of you who keep defending her about her dating life, shut the hell up. She’s dated so many guys, it’s not even news anymore when she’s with a new guy for like 3 days. I don’t like 1D but for her to bash on Harry right after she broke up with him or whatever, that’s pretty frikken stupid.
She’s an immature celebrity. I don’t see how anyone can idolize her.
