Do I believe bands can save lives, or play a significant role in saving lives? Yes I do with all my heart. When I was younger I went through a stage where I was extremely suicidal but didn’t know how to get help, and I didn’t feel I could confide in any of my friends. I listened to Tokio Hotel, all day every day, and that helped me get through, so yes, I believe bands can save lives.
HOWEVER, not every band you listen to has “saved your life”. k you listened to them when you were sad a few times and it cheered you up, fair enough. Or maybe you related to the lyrics and it made you feel not so alone, also pretty damn fair.
THAT DOESN’T MEAN THEY SAVED YOUR LIFE OH MY GOD SHUT UP YOU JUST SOUND LIKE A WHINY LITTLE CUNT THAT TAKES EVERYTHING FR GRANTED.
Enjoy your music, a band doesn’t need to have “saved your life” for them to be important to you.

I think it’s hilarious that when someone says they “don’t like” something, (be it here or on other pages), a fair number of people seem to act like the OP is “telling them what to do.”
Um, no…
They’re expressing their opinion. They’re not saying, “You!!! Yes, you reading this sentence! YOU SHOULD DO WHAT I SAY!”
If someone says they don’t like piercings/tattoos/makeup/hair dye/drugs/alcohol/cigarettes/parties/whatever, that doesn’t mean they’re TELLING other people to abstain from those things. It just means they don’t like that stuff.
Perhaps people should stop reading into things so much that they develop a victimhood complex, and think that any time someone says, “I like girls without makeup,” it automatically means, “I insist that any girl reading this cease and desist from wearing makeup, starting now.”
It’s usually met with a comment like, “Women don’t exist to please you!!!” etc. Um, that’s not the point the person was making: They were simply saying that they personally don’t like something… and if you do, then that’s fine, but no one is implying the bizarre assumption you just made. Women don’t exist to please you? Of course they don’t… and that has absolutely nothing to do with what they said. They simply stated their preference; not that people should do as they say.
And please don’t say “That kind of thing doesn’t happen,” or “It’s rare that people make that sort of interpretation,” because even a cursory glance through past comment posts on this blog says otherwise.

I have no problem with people who dislike drugs.
I just have a massive problem with arrogant condescension.

I’ll first say, everyone judges. It’s inevitable. Now, this “Stop slut shaming omggg!11” thing is the most fucking annoying fad on tumblr. Yes, we get it shaming anyone for personal choices is bad so on. There is no need to pull the fucking slut-shaming card of everything though. Liking sex isn’t a bad thing - sex is amazing. And yes, just because a person wears tight clothing definitely does not make them a slut. There is such thing as one, though. A person - man or woman, who willingly goes out to have sex with many people, everyday or w/e, is a slut. The quantity? We don’t have to know. They have many sexual partners and that’s their own relationship dynamic. No one is fucking stopping you from having sex with many people, but I’m allowed to not like it. If you think you will get by in life without getting judged, you need to wake up and accept that the world will judge - and it doesn’t fucking owe you anything. Just because anyone has a different opinion about it than you does not make them a misogynist, or a jealous prude - if you do think that, you have your head stuck up your own judgmental ass.

I look down on people who smoke, drink and/or do drugs. If you tell me you do any of those things I will immediately think I am a better person than you.

I need to write this down, because it pisses me off.
First of all I need you to know that I don’t want to promote smoking cigarettes and I don’t think it’s cool or trendy.
I get really annoyed when people feel the need to tell me that I will die from lung cancer, if I don’t stop smoking cigarettes.
I know that it’s unhealthy and I know it’s not good for me and I know I COULD die from lung cancer.
But I could also get hit by a bus tomorrow. No one really knows. There are also people who don’t smoke cigarettes and die from lung cancer (may they rest in peace).
There are so many people who die in car accidents every day, but no one said to me “don’t get in that car, you’ll die in a car accident” because no one really knows what happens in the future. No one can tell you what you’ll die from. It just happens one day.
I know that cancer is a serious thing and I know that smoking is a bad habit (I started smoking cigarettes 4 years ago) but please stop telling me that I will die from cancer because you have no idea what my future looks like, so you should rather take care of yours.
Agree or disagree here.

Given the fact that my generation is better educated as a whole than others, I’d like to think that we’re capable of solving some of the problems left by the previous two or three generations, but when I look at things like Tumblr, I realize that’s never going to happen.
You’d think the generation that grew up being told we could do/be anything we wanted, only to graduate college right as the economy collapsed, would be eager to roll up its sleeves and fix the grossly unfair economic system that benefits the wealthy at the expense of everyone else.
Instead, we have Tumblr… where every PC-Thug and Social-Justice-Tryhard is so preoccupied calling themselves “oppressed victims of white malehood,” that they can’t fathom banding together with their enemy, “the patriarchy” to cut the wealthy down to size.
Even when that idea is pointed out to them, they’re so distracted by the “race and sex” of the wealthy that they can’t understand that it’s irrelevant to solving the problem.
The solution is not to make more rich minorities. The solution is to make fewer rich people and enrich everyone else, white, black, man, woman, whatever.
Human history is one long struggle between the haves and have-nots, i.e. rich and poor.
The reason the rich stay rich is because they put all their effort into playing the poor against each other, just like here on tumblr: i.e. “You’re white, you have privilege. You’re straight. You have privilege. You’re male, you have privilege. You’re thin. You have privilege,” or even something as mundane as, “You like this, ergo I don’t like you. You hate that, ergo I hate you.” When the poor argue amongst themselves, fighting over who has it worse, who’s right or wrong, the rich just laugh all the way to the bank. Free tip, proletariat… YOU’RE ALL WRONG.
Wake me when my generation actually grows up and stops arguing amongst themselves about social justice, and starts focusing on the REAL problem: economic justice.
Tax the wealthy.
Stop government handouts to businesses.
Stop having kids.
Nationalize the energy and healthcare industries.
