People who are accidentally mistaken for other races or ethnicities shouldn’t feel personally offended and outraged by the person who mislabeled them. It’s an accident and an honest mistake. If you look Latino/a or Asian, for example, that’s what people will assume you are, so if you’re not, just correct them and move on. Most of the time they’re not trying to be mean or insensitive, it’s just an honest mistake.
I’m a natural redhead with lots of freckles, and because of this, people always assume I’m Irish. I’m not - not one bit. I’m Slavic and Mediterranean. But I get that I look Irish, so when people ask, I don’t get upset or offended, because I know why they would make the assumption. I just tell them my true ethnicities, of which I am very proud, and I move on.

I like Jennifer Lawrence well enough, I mean she’s a good actress, but I hate the way she’s glorified on tumblr. I hate how they have to compare her to other actresses to make her look better (i.e Kristen Stewart’s Twilight) It’s horrible and bullying. I just get so annoyed.

I don’t understand why people think you need to have children to have a family. Your family includes not only your biological relatives, but also those you are related through by marriage. It’s fine to have children if you want them, but you don’t need children to have a family. A family can consist of people all over the age of 18, a family is not any less important just because there are no children in it.

I don’t care about your privilege, my privilege or the privilege of anyone else on the planet. Focusing on privilege always leads to more hate, discrimination and schisms.
If you want equality, focus on the people who have to deal with discrimination and what causes them to be discriminated against. I bet you can find this bias against nearly every group, for different reasons.
Focus on privilege usually focuses on bringing people down a peg; equality isn’t “getting even”; it’s not about all of us being equally oppressed so we “know what it feels like”. Have a little heart; people have empathy. The only good that has ever come from discussions of privilege is telling people not to be terrible to others, but you can do that without the ‘privilege’ element. Observe: “Don’t be an ass.”
Focus on inequality (and not on oppression Olympics) leads to serious discussion about how the issues could be solved. It can actually generate action to solve said issues.
Don’t tell me why I should feel horrible about things I can’t control; tell me how I can help change things for the better.

Meryl Streep is overrated.
Sure, she’s a pretty good actress. She’s had some awful roles, some so-so roles, and some fantastic ones. However there are some even more talented actresses than her who have yet to win their own Oscar, yet she still has three.
So long story short: is she good? Yes. But is she deserving of three Oscar wins and 17 nominations? No.

I’m sick of people saying you have to be a certain type of female to “get something done” You can be feminine and get stuff done and you can be masculine and get stuff done. One doesn’t do it better. All women get stuff done no matter what they look like.
