I am really baffled as to how and why so many people still believe in this, considering it was invented in a time when space and our relationship with it wasn’t really understood.  How does it make sense that stars that are actually completely disconnected from each other would affect us in ways based on the arbitrary shapes they appear to be in from Earth?  Why would planets decide to affect us in ways related to the deities we just happened to name them for (Venus being connected to love, for example)?  It makes no sense to me.
